The Artificial Intelligence and Data Science area from INESC P&D Brazil researches and develops solutions for problems that involve a large data volume. Data have increasingly been a central element in computational challenges in the sciences, engineering, and health areas. Challenges such as storage, scalability, consistency, maintenance, safety, smart analysis, and knowledge extraction are becoming increasingly higher in a world where digital transformation becomes a reality. The Artificial Intelligence and Data Science area is responsible for several types of activities, more specifically: research, development, technology transfer, advisory, and training. These activities take place in various sectors that deal with large volume of data, highlighting the sectors: electricity, oil, environment and sea, industry and management, innovation management, and agri-food and forest.
