The Oil and Gas Business Area is devoted to find synergies among technologies developed in the INESC P&D Brazil universe to be applied in the industry of this area. The undeniable Brazilian vocation for oil and gas exploration in hostile environments with big related risks, and the need to explore resources that are a lot further away from the shoreline, in bigger depths in global oceans, has originated a strong interest for the development of an equipment and solution industry that involve a technology level with high safety and control standards. This Business Area has the attribution of monitoring the technological race involved in the exploration of complex oil, as well as gas. This business area has a close relationship with all IB's research areas.
