RESEARCH AREAS >

Biotechnology, environment, and sustainability

The Biotechnology, Environment and Sustainability research area has the goal of monitoring and managing natural and environmental resources, with focus on current issues related to environmental degradation, such as soil and water contamination by heavy metals, hydrocarbons, medication residues and sewage, deforestation, pollution, fauna and flora alteration, among other activities that may affect the environment where we live as well as human life.

Our research area also comprises a wide field of scientific knowledge related to biotechnology, which involves molecular biology, chemistry, microbiology, chemical and process engineering. Through interdisciplinarity, assisting in the decision making on problems related to health and environment, we have a team of specialized professionals and a lab network with the necessary infrastructure to perform scientific projects.
