He holds an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering in the Electrotechnical modality from the Industrial Engineering School (1978), a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Electrical and Computer Engineering School of Campinas State University (1988) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of São Paulo (1998). At Eletropaulo, he was an engineer of electrical studies from 1979 to 1987, manager of the Division of Operation and Maintenance of Baixada Santista, from 1987 to 1995 and manager of the Department of Operation of the System from 1995 to 1998. At EPTEE – Empresa Paulista de Transmissão de Energia Eletrica, he was a manager of the Department of System Operation from 1998 to 2000. In 1998, he has participated in the operational structuring of the ONS – National System Operator. He was a researcher-doctor of ENERQ/USP from 2000 to 2004. He was an adjunct professor at the University Center of FEI during the period between the years 2000 and 2013 and an advisor of CREA-SP from 2003 to 2008.
He currently is a consultant in the area of studies and analysis of power electrical systems, executive director of INESC P&D Brasil, full professor at Santa Cecília University and guest professor at the Mauá Institute of Technology. He has coordinated and still is coordinating many R&D projects for companies of the electricity sector in Brazil. He has experience in the electrical engineering area, with emphasis in the following topics: Dynamic operation and control of power electrical systems.
