Richard Demo Souza obtained his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) in 2003. From 2004 to 2016 was Professor at the Federal Technical University of Paraná (UTFPR), and as of 2017 is Professor at UFSC. His research interests are in the areas of wireless communications and signal processing, particularly with IoT applications. Was or is Editor of the SBrT Journal of Communications and Information Systems, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, and the IEEE IoT Journal. Was one of the authors of the Best Article at the IEEE/IFIP Wireless Days 2014 event, supervised the winning thesis of the 2014 CAPES Award for Theses in Electrical Engineering, and was member of the team that received that Excellence Award in Research Projects from the Cuban Academy Sciences in 2016.
