INESC P&D Brazil signed on January 16, a protocol of cooperation with the Chinese State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed Signals Integrated Circuits in Very Large Scale, or AMS VLSI Lab – State Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI, located in Macau, China.
The promotion of exchange of post-graduate students and researchers and the stimulation of international cooperation in research projects in the areas of science and technology, between Brazil and Macau (China) are the main objectives of the Protocol.
This lab, installed in Macau University, is recognized by the Government of the Popular Republic of China, and its main objective is to build an R&D excellence platform for students and researchers to be able to work in the most advanced areas of knowledge, particularly in integrated circuit design for analog and mixed-signal and SoC type (System-on-Chip).
This agreement will allow researchers of the two entities spend extended periods of stay in the respective laboratories and Brazilian universities involved in network INESC Brazil, especially for doctoral fellows.
The protocol was signed by the President of INESC P&D Brazil, Vladimiro Miranda, and by Rui Martins, Director of AMS VLSI Lab and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Macau. This protocol is expected to last four years and will be renewed automatically for equal periods.
In number of about 40, the State Key Labs receive strong investment of the Chinese Central Governament, but are subjected to rigorous periodic reviews and are recognized as R&D laboratories of excellence in China.
